“Igniting Learning Through Classic Books”
HOW IT WORKS
Program Objectives:
Introduce students to beloved classic titles.
Support teachers: Provide resources, lesson plans, and book access that reduce teacher prep burden.
Engage families: Promote the reading of classic titles annually with “Timeless Tales Week” campaign in early March.

📚BACK-TO-SCHOOL PREP
American Teachers Alliance (ATA) publishes a curated list of suggested classic books per grade level at the American Teacher Store. ATA also publishes an annual academic year Reading List (coming soon) by grade level: “Timeless Tales Book of the Month.”
1. Teachers select a “Timeless Tale Book of the Month” to assign to their class(es) to read. They can follow ATA’s reading list or select their own titles.
2. Students take the monthly “Timeless Tales Book Art Challenge.”
a. Students engage their creativity with classic books by drawing a scene from the Timeless Tale Book of the Month, selected by their Teacher.
b. Students create their drawing/design based on a scene, setting, or character. Teachers can incorporate the book art challenge in their lesson plans and correlate to English Language Arts standards.
c. Teachers designate a monthly due date for the drawings to be submitted. Drawing size of 8.5 x 11 is suggested for uniformity (portrait or landscape). Teachers can display the student artwork in their classroom and students do a “gallery walk.” Students vote anonymously for their favorite Timeless Tales Book Art, with suggested 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
d. Teachers can upload and showcase their students’ classic books artwork with parent permission on sites like Artsonia.
3. At the end of the month, the Teacher assigns the next month’s book and the Timeless Tales Book Art Challenge begins again!
